On 9 December 2019, H.E. Phasporn Sangasubana, Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, together with Secretary-General of ASEAN and Ambassador of Norway to ASEAN delivered remarks at the launching ceremony of the “ASEAN-Norway Cooperation Project on Local Capacity Building for Reducing Plastic Pollution in the ASEAN” or the “ASEANO Project”.

Ambassador Phasporn, in her remarks, expressed appreciation for Norway’s financial support of US$3 million to the ASEANO which will add to ASEAN’s efforts in addressing marine plastic debris, and emphasised the importance of raising public awareness so that there would be a behavioural change in the attitudes towards reducing marine debris. The ASEANO Project will be implemented in three years starting from 2019.
