On 18 September 2019, H.E. Chairat Sirivat, Consul General of Thailand, together with ASEAN Consuls General in Dubai (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore) hosted the “ASEAN Cultural Day” Reception at Dusit Thani, Dubai to celebrate the ASEAN Cultural Year 2019, which is one of Thailand’s initiatives as a Chair of ASEAN, and the 52nd Anniversary of ASEAN. At the opening, H.E. Waravuth Pouapinya, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE, deliverered his remarks.

A variety of ASEAN cultural performances, namely, Singing by Singapore, Muay Thai and Thai Isan Dance, Indonesian Traditional Dances, Filipino Choir, Malaysian Martial Arts (Silat), and ASEAN National and Traditional Costumes Fashion Show, including ASEAN cuisine and cultural and tourism exhibitions were featured at the event.

The event was attended by over 250 representatives from ASEAN Consulates-General and its Plus Three and Dialogue Partners, UAE government agencies, business sectors, clubs and associations and media.
