On 15 September 2019, Mrs. Thippawan Supamitkitja, Minister, attended opening ceremony of the Brisbane Thai Festival 2019, organised by Thai-Australian Association of Queensland Inc. (TAAQ) and sponsored by the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra. Lord Mayor of Brisbane City Council, Mr. Adrian Schrinner, Mr. Peter Russo, MP., and Senator Gerard Rennick together with Counsellor Dhisadee Chamlongrasdr were also present at the event.

The Festival has been held annually to celebrate and promote Thai culture and tradition, such as religious ceremony, Thai food, cultural performance, music and boxing (Muay Thai). It was a series of Thai festivals organised throughout Australia aiming to promote people to people understanding between Thailand and Australia as well as strengthen the unity of the Thai community.  

In Canberra, the 17^th Thai Food and Culture Festival will be held on Sunday, 22 September 2019 at the Embassy’s premises (111 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla, ACT 2600).
