On 9 September 2019, Mr. Renaud Meyer, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, on the occasion of the former’s assumption of duty, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangkok.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand welcomed the UNDP Resident Representative, who assumed his position on 26 March 2019 and reaffirmed the Royal Thai Government’s readiness to work with the UNDP in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in producing the Thailand Human Development Report 2019. The Report will help to disseminate the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) among the international community as a pathway towards the reduction of inequality and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand also stressed the importance of relevant United Nations high-level meetings to be held in September 2019 in New York, including the SDG Summit and the Climate Action Summit to be attended by H.E. Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The UNDP established its office in Thailand since 1966 and has played a supporting role in advancing Thailand’s development as well as strengthening Thailand’s capacities in implementing the SDGs. Under the current Country Programme Document (CPD) (2017 – 2021), many cooperation projects between UNDP and Thailand in various areas have been implemented, such as poverty reduction, sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, transparency in public procurement and public services innovation.
