On 9 September 2019, H.E. Mr. Songphol Sukchan, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, presided over the opening ceremony of the Thai Food Promotion at the Wyndham Casablanca Hotel, Jakarta. He thanked the hotel, Thai Airways and Tourism Authority of Thailand for their support in making this event possible. The event will help promote Thai food and culture in Indonesia as well as tourism to Thailand.  In 2018, Thailand received more than 38 million foreign tourists, consisting of over 600,000 Indonesian tourists.  Thai cuisine is the major driver of Indonesian tourism to Thailand.

The Thai Food Promotion will last for 1 month and will also be held at the Wyndham in Surabaya and Palembang.
