Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand participated in ASEAN Ministerial Dialogue on Strengthening Women's Role for Sustainable Peace and Security and emphsised the importance of promoting women’s role, women empowerment, capacity building for women in all dimensions as well as gender equality.
ASEAN Ministerial Dialogue on Strengthening Women’s Role for Sustainable Peace and Security discussed the implementation of the UN’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, evaluated trends, emerging challenges and opportunities, and shared experiences, best practices and capacity building among ASEAN and Dialogue Partners. On this occasion, Thailand stressed the importance of enhanced participation of women peacebuilders in peace processes, women empowerment, and capacity building for women in all dimensions. In addition, Thailand highlighted the need to promote gender equality during the COVID-19 pandemic, collecting data and statistics on women’s participation, strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships, and women’s economic empowerment, with a view to developing policies that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality in employment and business. Thailand also reaffirmed commitment to support the work of the ASEAN Women for Peace Registry (AWPR) and its network expansion, which will further promote peace, security and sustainable development in the region.
