On 4 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Kuroda Jun, President of JETRO and Mr. Yamashita Noriaki, President of Japan Chamber of Commerce Bangkok (JCCB), along with executives from JCCB members. The purpose of the latter's visit was to pay a courtesy call and to report the results of the Survey on Business Sentiment of Japanese Corporations in Thailand for the 1st Half of 2023 conducted by JETRO on a regular basis, and to convey JCCB member companies’ economic policy suggestions to the Thai government.

The President of JETRO reaffirmed the Japanese private sector’s continued confidence in the Thai economy, while reporting the current challenges faced by Japanese companies in Thailand, such as shortage of skilled labour, particularly IT personnel and engineers or experts in high technology. The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs conveyed his gratitude to the Japanese private sector for their key role in the development of the Thai economy over decades. He added that the survey results and recommendations from Japanese companies, who are highly familiar with Thailand, are valuable for evaluating the Thai Government’s economic policies including the Landbridge Project.
