On 20 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Meeting of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Commission (SEANWFZ Commission) on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.
 
The meeting reaffirmed ASEAN’s shared commitment to maintaining Southeast Asia as a Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone and reviewed progress on the discussions regarding the signing of the Protocol to the Treaty of Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ). The meeting also exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation with other Nuclear Weapon-Free Zones in different regions in support of global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation objectives. Thailand underscored the importance of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation amidst growing uncertainties in the international security environment.
