On 12 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, as representative of the Royal Thai Government, attended the State Cremation Ceremony of H.E. Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, at the That Luang Esplanade in Vientiane.

The Vice Foreign Minister conveyed the condolences of the Royal Thai Government and the Thai people to the Government and people of the Lao PDR on the passing of the President of the National Assembly. He also paid tribute to the latter’s contributions in strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and the Lao PDR.
