On 16 July 2024, during his visit to New York, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Guy Ryder, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Policy. During the meeting, the Vice Minister discussed effective multilateralism and reaffirmed Thailand’s support for the multilateral system and international cooperation for the achievement of the SDGs. He expressed Thailand’s willingness to participate actively in the upcoming Summit of the Future, and thanked the Under-Secretary-General for his message for the “Summit of the Future and the Future of Multilateralism: Perspectives from Stakeholders” held in Thailand in May, in preparation for the meeting.

Both sides also discussed strengthening UN - Thailand cooperation, especially by having more Thai nationals serving in international organisations, particularly at professional and senior levels, to reflect the strong partnership between Thailand and the UN.
