On 20 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Florian Hahn, German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

Both sides exchanged views on Thailand - Germany bilateral relations, regional geopolitical and security developments, as well as avenues to strengthen cooperation in economic affairs, investment, science, technology, and innovation. They also underscored the importance of cooperation among middle powers in supporting multilateralism and the rules-based international order amid an increasingly complex global environment.

On this occasion, the Thai side provided an update on Thailand’s domestic political developments and the stability of the current government, while reaffirming Thailand’s readiness to further strengthen Thailand - Germany relations in a closer and more concrete manner, both bilaterally and under the Thailand - EU framework. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing economic cooperation, attracting investment in future industries, advancing negotiations on the Thailand - EU Free Trade Agreement (Thai-EU FTA), promoting Thailand’s Landbridge project, and expressing Thailand’s interest in hosting a future Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK). The German side highlighted Germany’s core strategic principles of promoting democracy, working closely with allies and partners, and strengthening economic competitiveness through research and development. The German side also discussed opportunities to further advance Thailand - Germany cooperation through concrete collaborative projects and the development of a Joint Roadmap. Both sides also exchanged views on the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, developments in the Middle East and Iran, as well as other international issues of mutual interest.
