On 26 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a reception on the occasion of Australia Day and presented a congratulatory floral vase to H.E. Dr. Angela Macdonald, Ambassador of Australia to Thailand, at The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok. In her opening remarks, the Australian Ambassador reaffirmed the strong and evolving relationship between Thailand and Australia, grounded in shared values, and highlighted the importance of people-to-people cooperation as a cornerstone of bilateral relations.

Thailand and Australia enjoy close diplomatic relations and have maintained engagement at all levels and across all dimensions over the past 74 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1952, as well as the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership in 2020. Both sides welcomed the successful implementation of cooperation under the Joint Plan of Action to Implement the Thailand - Australia Strategic Partnership (2022 - 2025), which concluded in 2025, and expressed their shared commitment to sustaining the momentum of bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and the region under the next Joint Plan of Action (2026 - 2029), expected to be finalized within 2026.
