On 11 December 2021, Mr. Krai Mahasandana, Deputy Director General of the Department of European Affairs, attended the handing over of 100,620 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines from the Government of the Republic of Iceland to the Royal Thai Government. Mr. Chamnarn Marksean Viravan, Vice Honorary Consul of the Republic of Iceland in Bangkok, and Miss Ratanaporn Tangwangvivat, Head of Coordinating Unit for One Health, Department of Disease Control, presided over the event as representatives of their respective governments.

The Republic of Iceland values the principle of global and equal access to COVID-19 vaccines. The donation on this occasion reflects the goodwill and friendship extended to Thailand by the Republic of Iceland. Despite geographical distance between the two countries, Thailand and Iceland have enjoyed nearly 50 years of close and cordial diplomatic relations.

This donation is the result of close cooperation among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand and Iceland,
as well as the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo.
