On 20 February 2023, Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired the first annual meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the United Nations, other International Organizations and Foreign Organizations in 2023 held in a hybrid format at Vites Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The purpose of this meeting was to report the outcome of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77) during the high-level week (19-26 September 2022) in New York. For Thailand’s part, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in this UNGA main session as the Head of the Thai delegation.

The meeting also acknowledged the outcome of UNGA main committees’ meetings, which took place after the high-level week up until December 2022. Members of the Coordinating Committee was informed in this regard about the dynamics of discussions on various global topics at the UN, such as regional peace and security, economic and social recovery from COVID-19, SDGs implementation and climate action to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

The Coordinating Committee of the United Nations, other International Organizations and Foreign Organizations is composed of members of the relevant Thai agencies and chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The Committee’s main task is to coordinate Thailand’s positions and policies in international arenas, including the United Nations, with an aim to promote Thailand’s visible role in the international community.
