During 23 - 26 September 2025, Mr. Songchai Chaipatiyut, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, led the Thai delegation to the 52nd Session of the UNCITRAL Working Group III in Vienna to discuss investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) reform, including the draft statute of a standing mechanism for the resolution of international investment disputes and the draft provisions on procedural and cross-cutting issues, both of which have important ramifications to the future of international investment law.

The Thai delegation from the Ministry and Office of the Attorney-General engaged actively in discussions, demonstrating their leadership on various issues, including through its collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy and Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, to co-host a reception with the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations and invited representatives of the Permanent Court of Arbitration to share their experience under the topic of “Managing Headquarters and Regional Offices: Lesson Learnt from the PCA’s Experience.” The event was organized to underscore Thailand’s readiness to host the headquarters of the Advisory Centre on International Investment Dispute Resolution in Bangkok.
