On 24 February 2023, Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Dame Sarah MacIntosh, Deputy National Security Adviser of the United Kingdom, during her official visit to Thailand at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also present at the meeting were H.E. Mr. Mark Gooding, UK Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Asi Mamanee, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and Ms. Pratana Disyatat, Director of Western Europe Division.

Both sides exchanged views on regional and global situations and discussed ways to further strengthen security cooperation in various aspects at both bilateral and regional levels especially under the ASEAN framework. The issues of the discussion also included cyber security and counter-terrorism which the UK has expertise in and attached great importance to.

During the visit to Thailand, the Deputy National Security Adviser also held discussions with General Chaichan Changmongkol, Deputy Minister of Defence, and General Supot Malaniyom, Secretary-General of the National Security Council of Thailand. As part of her regional tour to Southeast Asia, Thailand was the first country she visited, followed by Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.
