On 12 - 16 June 2023, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), in collaboration with the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), organized the English for Communication Course for Officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Governmental Agencies of Lao People Democratic Republic at DVIFA, Thailand. At the opening session, the participants were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of the DVIFA, and Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of TICA, was also present to deliver her opening remarks.

Organized by the TICA and DVIFA, the English course aimed to enhance the communication skills and performance of Foreign Service officers, guided by the Cooperation Plan for Development between Thailand and Laos PDR and the MOU on Academic Exchange and Cooperation between the DVIFA and Institute of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR signed in 2020.

The participants comprised 25 diplomats and government officers from various provinces of Lao PDR, including those from Institute of Foreign Affairs, and 10 Development Cooperation Officers from TICA. This course provided the opportunity for the participants to acquire communication skills essential to the conduct of international affairs, as well as creating network among themselves. The participants were also given a presentation on “Thailand and Laos PDR Relations and Cooperation Opportunities,” where they learn about the close friendship and existing areas and opportunity of Thailand - Lao PDR cooperation.
