On 21 March 2025, the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT), co-organized a consultative forum on “Thailand’s Sustainable Development: Towards the 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR)” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, presided over the opening of the forum, and Ms. Cataleya Phatoomros, Deputy Director-General, presented Thailand’s mechanism and current status in drafting the country’s 2025 VNR. The forum brought together over 30 participants from the business sector.

The forum aims to promote the participation of the private sector in the drafting process of Thailand’s 2025 VNR as well as to receive the private sector’s perspectives on the progress, challenges, and opportunities for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Thailand. Participants exchanged views on current development challenges and offered recommendations on ways to accelerate SDGs in Thailand and to align SDGs efforts with the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices within the private sector.

The VNR is a crucial process through which UN member states report on their progress towards achieving the SDGs. Thailand will present its third VNR report at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July 2025 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Therefore, this consultation not only promoted inclusive participation in the VNR process, but also helped strengthen collaboration among all sectors in Thailand in advancing the SDGs.
