On 21 July 2023, H.E. Mrs. Shirley Dennise Aguilar Barrera, Ambassador of Guatemala to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Director-General of American and South Pacific Affairs, upon her assumption of duty.

Both sides agreed to further promote Thailand-Guatemala relations, especially through the negotiations of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of Political Consultations Mechanism between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirement for Diplomatic and Official Passports, and Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT). Cooperation between the two countries in multilateral frameworks was also discussed.
