On 9 February 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), participated in the launching ceremony of “Inthanin Drip Coffee : Thep Sadet” at the Agricultural Co-operative of Doisaketpattana Ltd., Chiang Mai Province. The event was also attended by Ms. Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Ltd. and Mr. SUZUKI Kasuya, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thailand Office.

Inthanin Drip Coffee: Thep Sadet is a premium coffee product built on the success of the TICA-JICA Technical Cooperation Project on Post-Harvest Management and Community-Based Development for Local Products (Arabica Coffee Project)”, which was implemented from June 2019 – May 2023. The project was implemented by the Agricultural Co-operative of Doisaketpattana Ltd. under the Cooperative Promotion Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

During three years of the project implementation, JICA dispatchded a Japanese expert to help improve the value chain of Doisaket Arabica coffee. The Japanese expert provided technical advice on enhancing Arabica coffee cultivation and farm management, improving post-havest processing, developing the co-operative management, and strengthening collaboration between farmers and the Agricultural Co-operative of Doisaketpattana Ltd. In addition to boosting the productivity and quality of Doisaket coffee, the Project could serve as a model project for other local communities and agricultural co-operatives in the coffee cultivation and high-value creation.

To generate income for coffee farmers in the long run, TICA has helped the Agricultural Co-operative of Doisaketpattana Ltd. expand the market access and distribution channels for its coffee product through Bangchak Corporation Public Company Ltd. The company agreed to purchase Thep Sadet coffee beans and develop its branding. The product is now available at major Inthanin coffee shops.

The Inthanin Drip Coffee: Thep Sadet is a showcase of Public Private Partnership for People (PPPP) that scales up the successful outcomes of international development cooperation for the greater benefits of local Thai communities. It offers a good example of sustainable development cooperation projects, which contributes to stability, propersity and sustainability for Thailand and its people in the long term, as envisioned by the Thai government.
