           On 13 May 2021, H.E. Mr. Jesda Katavetin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR led representatives of the Thai private sector in the Lao PDR to present cash, medical equipment and essential items to the Government of the Lao PDR, in order to combat COVID-19. The assistances were received by H.E. Dr. Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, Minister of Health and the Deputy Head of the Central Task force Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, at the Ministry of Health, the Lao PDR.
          The Royal Thai Embassy, the Thai private sector and the Thai community in the Lao PDR jointly raised fund and essential items such as Swab Test Positive Pressure Unit, Thai innovated paper field hospital beds and medical masks with a total value of 3,822,338 baht or approximately 1,239 million kip. These assistances are meant to support the fight against COVID-19 in the Lao PDR and are a symbol of care and support from Thai people to Lao people as trusted friends and close neighbors.
          These donations from the private sector are in addition to the assistance from the Royal Thai Government previously presented on 7 May 2021 worth a total of 12,880,000 baht. Thus, the overall assistance from the Royal Thai Government, private sector and the Thai community combined is worth 16,702,338 baht or approximately 5,400 million kip.
