On 20 September 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha donated a collection of 80 books about Thailand to Qatar University Library. The book donation was part of the activities to commemorate the 41st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Qatar which falls on 7 August 2021. H.E. Mr. Nathapol Khantahiran, Ambassador of Thailand to the State of Qatar, was welcomed by Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mr. Cesar Wazen, Director of International Affairs Office, and Ms. Asma Al-Buainain, Acting Director of Qatar University Library.

At the donation ceremony held at Qatar University, the Ambassador of Thailand said that Thailand has had close ties with Qatar in several aspects ranging from political, economic, trade and investment, socio-cultural and educational relations. On education, the Ambassador has praised Qatar University for being the oldest and most prestigious academic institution in Qatar and has long been offering academic excellence and massive learning resources for students and scholars across the country. The Ambassador also expressed appreciation to Qatar University for providing scholarships to Thai students to study Arabic language and undergraduate degrees at Qatar University.

The donation covered books on various topics about Thailand, ranging from Thai history, the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, Thai arts and culture, architecture, จtourism, Thai culinary and Muay Thai to Thai language studies, diplomacy, contemporary Thai culture and the lives of Muslim-Thai population in Thailand. The contributions will promote better understanding about Thailand among students, faculty members and scholars interested in the topic and inspire them to learn more about the rich culture and heritage of Thailand. The Ambassador also expressed appreciation to Qatar University for a fruitful partnership and kind collaboration in this project."
