Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed ways to strengthen Thailand - Australia cooperation under the Strategic Partnership, reaffirmed a commitment to enhancing close development cooperation in the Mekong Sub-region, as well as explored cooperation on climate mitigation and cyber security, during a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia
On 26 November 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, discussed over a telephone conversation with Senator the Honourable Marise Payne, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, on strategic developments in the region and ways to strengthen cooperation between Thailand and Australia under the Strategic Partnership.
Both sides congratulated and reaffirmed the support for the ASEAN-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both sides reaffirmed a strong commitment to enhancing close development cooperation in the Mekong Sub-region, including under Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) framework. In addition, both sides also agreed to explore new venues of cooperation into concrete projects under Thailand-Australia Strategic Partnership to drive the post COVID-19 recovery and to commemorate the upcoming 70th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2022, particularly in the areas of climate mitigation and adaptation, including low-emissions technology, as well as cyber security.
Both sides also exchanged views on development in the Indo-Pacific region and regional situation, including the situation in Myanmar and humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.
