Director-General for European Affairs had a fruitful discussion with Deputy Managing Director for Asia and Pacific, European External Action Service to prepare for the Thai-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement negotiations. Both Thai-EU agreed to expedite the negotiations on the basis of pragmatism and good faith.
On 8 June 2021, Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Director-General for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a virtual Preparatory Meeting for the Negotiation Session of the Thai-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with Ms. Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director for Asia and Pacific, European External Action Service (EEAS). The virtual Meeting was also attended by H.E. Mr. Sek Wannamethee, Thai Ambassador to Belgium, and H.E. Mr. Pirkka Tapiola, EU Ambassador to Thailand.
The Director-General, as Thai Chief Negotiator, stressed the importance of both the Thai-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement as enabling frameworks for concrete cooperation and a compass that will lead Thailand-EU relations towards strategic partnership. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to finalising the Thai-EU PCA at the earliest on the basis of pragmatism and good faith.
