On 13 June 2022, the Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Bangkok co-hosted an online meeting on "Promoting Cross-Border Investment between Thailand and Cambodia through Effective Double Taxation Agreement."

The meeting was joined by officials from the Thai Revenue Department and the Cambodian General Department of Taxation to provide practical information and guidance on steps to apply for tax exemption in their respective countries under Thailand-Cambodia Double Taxation Agreement. Approximately 40 representatives from the Thai and Cambodian private sector were present at the event to ask questions and provide feedbacks and suggestions to improve the effectiveness of and compliance to the Agreement.

The event was a follow-up from the outcome of the 11th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia in Phnom Penh in December 2021, where both sides agreed to continue working closely to ensure full and effective utilisation of the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation between Thailand and Cambodia to promote greater flow of investment between the two countries.

It is expected that key recommendations from this meeting will be passed on to the relevant agencies of Thailand and Cambodia for their consideration and appropriate actions.
