On 23 May 2026, Ms. Pittara Navarat, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., presided over and delivered opening remarks at the Stockholm Songkran Festival 2026 held at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm. Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Team Thailand officials, and staffs of the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm also attended the event.

The event was organised to celebrate the Songkran Festival and to promote Thai culture within Swedish society. In her opening remarks, Ms. Pittara addresses that Songkran is a valuable cultural heritage which reflects the essence of Thai identity, particularly the values of gratitude, generosity, and the close bonds among families and communities. She further noted that the festival is also an important platform for preserving and promoting Thai arts and culture, including Thai classical dance, Thai music, Muay Thai, Thai cuisine, and Thai handicrafts, thereby enhancing awareness and appreciation of Thai culture in Sweden.

In addition, in this event, the Royal Thai Embassy organised a “Consular Services Corner” to provide assistance and consultations regarding Thai national ID cards, passports, visas, and other consular services to members of the Thai and Swedish communities. The Tourism Authority of Thailand also set up a “Thailand Tourism Promotion Booth” to showcase Thailand’s tourist attractions, culture, and cuisine, while further promoting a positive image of Thailand in Sweden.

The festival displayed various activities promoting Thai arts and culture, including a traditional water-pouring ceremony for blessings, a long-drum parade, Thai classical dance performances, demonstrations of traditional Thai massage and Muay Thai, as well as live music and singing performances. Recreational activities and booths selling Thai products, food, and beverages were also available throughout the event. The festival attracted a large number of Thai, Swedish, and international visitors.
