On 4 March 2026, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, together with Mr. Natouch Thammanuruk, Counsellor, attended the 42nd Meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm (ACS) at the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Stockholm. The meeting was chaired by the Ambassador of the Lao PDR and attended by the Ambassadors of Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

During the meeting, the Ambassadors discussed the outcomes of activities aimed at raising awareness of ASEAN’s role in Sweden, as well as initiatives to promote cooperation between the ACS and various Swedish agencies. These included the discussion between the ACS and Ms. Diana Janse, State Secretary to the Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, on the occasion of the handover of the “Recommendation Paper on Enhancing ASEAN–Sweden Economic Cooperation” on 13 January 2026, and the meeting between the ACS and Mr. Karim Haggag, Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) on 10 February 2026. In addition, the ACS discussed plans for upcoming activities during the Lao PDR’s tenure as the rotating Chair of the ACS, including the ASEAN Trade and Food Fair 2026.
