On 25 March 2025, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, as Vice chair of the Core group of Ambassadors for Gender Equality in Sweden, hosted a talk on the topic “Gender Equality in Business Environment in Sweden” at the Royal Thai Embassy. Mr. Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden was a guest speaker and was invited to discuss how gender equality is shaping the business sectors in Sweden.
Mr. Jan mentioned key factors that make Sweden reached high level of gender equality, including clear political goals in social welfare policies, such as the right to education, paid parental leave and the division of parental leave. In addition, the Swedish business sector pays great attention to promote diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) within the organization, believing that these factors play a role in employee performance, inclusivity, attract new talents and the overall performance of the organization.
At Q& A session, the Ambassadors further discussed about the direction of women's participation in business in different regions, to which Mr. Jan commented that the Southeast Asian region has made good progress. However, promoting gender equality also depends on cultural factors in each country. Business Sweden values gender equality and will actively work towards promoting the role of women in business.
The core group of Ambassadors for Gender Equality comprises 12 countries with objectives to identify opportunity to cooperate with Swedish interlocutors to promote gender equality.
