On 18 March 2025, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, together with Ms. Pittara Navarat, Minister Counsellor, and Mr. Natouch Thammanuruk, Counsellor, had discussions with Mr. Jörgen Blennow, Vice President of Education at Chalmers University. The meeting started with the presentation from Chalmers University on the establishment of the University, courses at the University and vision of the University. Both sides then discussed on various issues especially exploring the opportunities for academic partnerships between Chalmers and Thai Universities, raising awareness among Thai students about studying at Chalmers, exploring possibilities for Thai startups and researches to engage with Chalmers University in the fields of innovation, technology and competitiveness, exploring potential cooperation between the University and the Embassy. The Ambassador also introduced to the University the Royal Thai Embassy’s Scaleup Impact Project, the joint project between the Embassy, the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) and Epicenter of Sweden.
Chalmers University has been a private university since 1994, located at Gothenburg. The University is well-known for its excellence in science, engineering, innovation and technology. It is one of the Swedish Universities that Thai students chose to further their studies.
On the same evening, Ambassador Arunrung met Thai students studying in Gothenburg from Chalmers University, University of Gothenburg Lund University and University of Skövde. Ambassador and staff of the Embassy used this opportunity to interact with the students, not only enquiring about their welfare but also exchanging views on various issues such as the work of the Embassy, student’s life in Sweden and how to develop cooperation between Thai and Swedish universities.
