During 18 - 28 February 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Health co-chaired the meetings between relevant Thai agencies and Ms. Tlaleng Mofokeng, the Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, under the Human Rights Council, during her official visit to Thailand.

The Special Rapporteur was briefed about the public health system in Thailand, the access to health services of various groups of population including migrant workers, the social and economic determinants of health that affect right to health and justice, collaboration between Thailand and neighboring countries, international organizations and civil society to strengthen the health system starting from local administration. She also visited Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and attended a briefing on the work of the Hospital and the Thai Red Cross Society.

The Special Rapporteur’s official visit to Thailand is part of Thailand’s voluntary pledge made under all 3 cycles of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) to extend the standing invitation to Special Procedures under the HRC.
