On 3 November 2025, H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Yukio Takasu, Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General on Human Security (SASG on Human Security), to exchange views on issues related to human security.

Both sides underscored the importance of human security in the face of today’s complex challenges. Mr. Takasu shared his views on a novel concept that derives from the idea of traditional human security called “Human-centered, multidimensional approach to security.” This approach highlights the interconnected nature of present day challenges such as tensions from geopolitics, climate change, migration and health issues while also emphasizing the importance of localizing human security efforts to effectively respond to the specific needs and priorities of each region and country. In addition, they also exchanged views on the possibility of Thailand and the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS) in co-hosting a regional meeting on a topic under the concept of a Human-centered approach to security. Mr. Takasu also commended Thailand for its active and constructive role in promoting human security.

Thailand has long been a strong advocate for human security at the United Nations as Thailand is a member of Human Security Network (HSN) and has been a consistent contributor to the UN Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS).
