As a close and friendly neighbor of Myanmar and a part of the ASEAN family, Thailand has been following developments in Myanmar with concern.

We hope the situation will soon de-escalate.

We hope all sides in Myanmar will exercise utmost restraint and engage in dialogue in order to achieve peaceful resolution of the situation and the return to normalcy for the interests of the Myanmar people.

The upcoming informal meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers will be a good opportunity to hear from Myanmar and discuss among the ASEAN family members about the latest situation as well as how ASEAN can help play a constructive role in bringing about peaceful resolution of the situation.
