On 4 November 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 11th Mekong–Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, in Beijing.

The Meeting discussed ways to address common challenges facing the subregion. Thailand called for stronger cooperation on water management, water quality and transboundary pollution, as well as efforts to tackle transboundary crime, online scams and financial fraud.

Thailand proposed establishing an MLC Task Force bringing together central banks, law enforcement agencies, regulators and the private sector. Building on the Bangkok Blueprint for Fraud-Resilient Financial Services, launched during the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, the Task Force would strengthen coordinated efforts to prevent, trace and disrupt criminal networks and their financial flows.

Thailand also reaffirmed its readiness to co-host the 5th MLC Leaders’ Meeting in Guilin later this year, with a shared commitment to building a Mekong subregion that is more secure, safe, sustainable and resilient to emerging challenges, while delivering tangible benefits to our people.
