On 9 April 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the Second Thailand - U.S. Working Group on Consular Cooperation and Capacity-Building for Diplomatic Operations. The Thai side was led by Ms. Jaithai Upakarnitikaset, Deputy Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, and Mrs. Nuttha Soontrapa, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Protocol. The U.S. side was represented by Mr. Cliff Seagroves, Principal Deputy Director of the Office of Foreign Missions, U.S. Department of State, and Mrs. Kathryn Flachsbart, Consul General at the U.S. Embassy in Thailand.

Both sides exchanged updates on progress and discussed ways to further enhance consular cooperation and facilitate the effective conduct of diplomatic functions, particularly on visa matters, consular protection for Thai and U.S. nationals, and cooperation on diplomatic privileges and immunities, which are essential for the effective performance of diplomatic and consular duties. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely to achieve concrete progress, on the basis of the longstanding and close partnership between the two countries.
