H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between 15 – 18 May 2022 to promote cooperation on politics, economic, trade and investment. The official visit will be joined by 78 representatives from 28 government agencies and 57 representatives from 39 private companies.
The official visit is aimed to promote bilateral cooperation after the normalisation of Thailand – Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations, and to steer forward cooperation which both countries agreed to enhance following the Prime Minister's official visit on 25 January 2022. This visit will also strengthen interactions and coordination between government agencies at both bilateral and multilateral level, create job opportunities for Thai workers in Saudi Arabia, and enhance the export of Thai products to Saudi Arabia.The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will lead representatives from government agencies and private sectors to a field study at Saudi Arabia’s economic development projects in order to further promote bilateral trade and investment.
During the official visit, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Investment, Minister of Tourism, and Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia. Both sides will also finalise the Roadmap to Strengthen Bilateral Relations between Thailand and Saudi Arabia, and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Establishment of Saudi – Thai Coordination Council. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will also witness the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Establishment of the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council, and the Memorandum of Understanding between Saudi – Thai Chamber of Commerce. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will also give an opening remark at the Saudi – Thai Investment Forum 2022, a fora where Thai – Saudi private and public sectors will exchange knowledge and expertise to promote trade and investment cooperation. 300 participants are expected to join this event.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in an event held by the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh to promote Thailand’s Halal food industry. The delegation will also visit Al-Ula, a city development project which is in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, to study the capacity of Saudi’s tourism industry, King Abdullah Economic City which will be the center of logistics and industries within the western part of the country, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Since the normalisation of the relations, both sides have pushed forward bilateral cooperation in all aspects, especially security, trade and investment, labour, public health, education, agricultural, communications and information technology.
