On 22 May 2023, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana graciously appointed H.E. Mr. Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Privy Councillor, as Their Majesties’ representative to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of the Republic of Myanmar, through H.E. U Chit Swe, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Kingdom of Thailand, to support the continued efforts to help those affected by Cyclone Mocha that struck the western part of Myanmar on 14 May 2023. A ceremony to receive the said donation was organised at the Royal Thai Airforce Base, Wing 6. At the ceremony, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar expressed his sincere gratitude for Their Majesties’ kind care and thoughts for the people of Myanmar. Also present at the ceremony were Air Chief Marshal Alongkorn Vannarot, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), and Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Deputy Permanent Secretary and Acting Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The Royal Donation comprises a number of tents, blankets, towels, household medicine and remedies, dried food items and other necessary relief items, which will be delivered to Yangon by the Royal Thai Air Force on Tuesday, 23 May 2023.
On 14 May 2023, Cyclone Mocha, with the maximun wind speed of 250 kilometre per hour at the centre which is equivalent to a category-5 hurricane, struck the western part of Myanmar and has since caused extensive damage to the people of Myanmar.
