On 11 December 2024, Mrs. Lalivan Karnchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the National Day of Romania reception at Dusit Thani Hotel, in Bangkok, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and presented congratulatory flowers to H.E. Ms. Daniela-Brînduşa Băzăvan, Ambassador of Romania to Thailand.
Thailand and Romania have enjoyed cordial ties since the establishment of their diplomatic relations on 1 June 1973. Both countries celebrated the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations last year in 2023. Both sides have been working to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse areas of mutual interest such as trade and investment, tourism, education and culture, as well as people-to-people exchanges. In addition, Thailand and Romania also have the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of Romania on Abolition of Visa Requirement for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports signed in 1993.
