On 19 December 2024, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director- General of the Department of International Organizations, received a courtesy call by and had a discussion with Mr. Iori Kato, International Organization for Migration (IOM) Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, on the occasion of the Regional Director's assumption of duty.

The Director-General congratulated Mr. Kato on his appointment and expressed appreciation for IOM’s support to Thailand and other countries in Asia and the Pacific in promoting efficient migration management. Both sides discussed the preparation for the second Regional Review of the Implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM Regional Review), which will take place in February 2025 in Bangkok.

Both sides also exchanged views about the collaboration between Thailand and IOM, including the promotion of the right perception of migrants and the provision of humanitarian assistance.
