The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs held a virtual meeting with Director General for Asia – Pacific and African Affairs of Indonesia to discuss ways to enhance bilateral and regional cooperation as well as situation in Myanmar.
On 1 April 2021, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a virtual meeting with Mr. Abdul Kadir Jailani, Director General for Asia – Pacific and African Affairs of Indonesia. Both sides agreed to step up bilateral cooperation activities which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this connection, the Thai side reaffirmed its readiness to host the 10th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia (JC) meeting and the 1st Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting to promote comprehensive cooperation, particularly in trade and investment.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional cooperation such as ASEAN travel corridor arrangement as well as mutual recognition of vaccine and certificates. They also discussed the situation in Myanmar and the role of ASEAN in maintaining peace and prosperity in the region.
