The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed advancing “Strengthened Strategic Partnership” between Thailand and Vietnam at all levels with H.E. Mr. Phan Chi Thanh, Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand. 

On 23 March 2021, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, discussed advancing “Strengthened Strategic Partnership” between Thailand and Vietnam at all levels with H.E. Mr. Phan Chi Thanh, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Thailand.

Both sides expressed determination to advance the “Strengthened Strategic Partnership” and to work closely together to enhance bilateral cooperation in all dimensions. They looked forward to exchanges of high-level visits, including the 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR) later this year. They also discussed activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations this year. 
 
Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening trade and investment between the two countries. The Thai side noted the constructive role of Thai investment in contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam and appreciated the continued support of the Vietnamese Government for Thai businesses in Vietnam.
 
On this occasion, the Thai side also reaffirmed readiness for its APEC host year in 2022. Thailand looks forward to Vietnam’s support of its concept of promoting the model of Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy during the APEC host year.
