On 3 December 2021, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a virtual discussion with Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink along with Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the visit to Thailand on 2 – 4 December 2021, which is the first visit after his assumption of this position in September 2021.

On this occasion, both sides discussed Thailand’s APEC host year in 2022 which prioritized the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) Model in line with the climate agenda. The US congratulated Thailand on its assumption as APEC host and reiterated its offer to host APEC
in 2023 as well as its readiness to work closely with Thailand under APEC Framework.

Additionally, they exchanged views on the latest development in the region and Mekong sub-region including the situation in Myanmar and humanitarian assistance.
