On 8 October 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Andalib Elias, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand, on the occasion of the latter’s assumption of duty.

The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh across all areas, and expressed her pleasure in welcoming the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh on the upcoming visit to Thailand to co-chair the 4th Thailand - Bangladesh Bilateral Consultations on 30 October 2026. The meeting will provide an important opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest and pave the way for exchanges of high-level visits in 2027.

Both sides also underscored the importance of promoting economic cooperation, particularly through commencing the FTA negotiations and enhancing maritime connectivity, with a view to promoting greater trade and investment between the two countries.
