H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, will pay an official visit to Thailand on 25 - 26 June 2024 and to jointly preside over the Opening Ceremony of the 14th Coordinating Meeting of the Thailand - Singapore Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP) with H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, at the Shangri-La Hotel on 26 June 2024.

During the visit, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore is also scheduled to attend a working luncheon with H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and an official welcoming dinner hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in honour of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore on 25 June 2024. On 26 June 2024, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore will attend a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and pay a courtesy call on General Surayud Chulanont, President of the Privy Council, and General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Privy Councillor. In addition, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore is also scheduled to attend a luncheon with Mr. Chaithawat Tulathon, Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives.

The theme of the 14th CSEP Meeting is “Embarking on a Green Partnership in a Digitalised Era” to promote the implementation of Thailand’s New Economy policy, which underlines the importance of utilising green technology, digital tools and innovation to enhance sustainable social and economic growth. The CSEP plenary will be co-chaired by the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Singapore. A Joint Summary Record will be adopted at its conclusion.

The CSEP was established in 1998 as a bilateral mechanism under the Singapore -Thailand Enhanced Partnership (STEP) framework to promote goodwill and exchanges of experiences and best practices in various areas of cooperation such as foreign affairs, civil service, education, environment, health, information and communication technology, legal system and judiciary, media, arts and culture and social Welfare, youth and sports, etc. For the first time in CSEP, the 14th CSEP Meeting will also cover future-oriented cooperation, including green and digital technology and sustainability.
