On 31 May 2023, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, joined the press conference of the upcoming 12th Refugee Film Festival. Organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Thailand Office, the event will be held during 16 - 20 June 2023, at Quartier CineArt, EmQuartier, to celebrate the World Refugee Day on 16 June each year.

In her remarks, DG Eksiri stated that Thailand had been working closely with UNHCR, donor countries and other organizations to take care of displaced persons from neighboring countries and beyond for more than 4 decades, even though Thailand was not a state party to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention. In concurrence with the tagline for World Refugee Day 2023: “Hope away from home”, she also said that aside from providing physical support and protection, it was also important to provide “hope” through the provision of opportunities, which would enable refugees to realize their full potential and contribute to the economic and social development of the host countries.
