On 11 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs was invited to join a breakfast meeting by H.E. Mr. Mark Gooding, UK Ambassador to Thailand, at the British Residence on the occasion of the visit of Ms. Joelle Jenny, Director for South East Asia and Pacific, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK, to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Chatchai Viriyavejakul, Director-Genaral of the Department of East Asian Affairs, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Deputy Director-General of Department of the European Affairs and Ms. Pratana Disyatat, Director of Western Europe.

Both sides discussed the situation in Myanmar and other regional issues. In addition, they also touched on important bilateral issues, such as the elevation of Thailand-UK bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2024, as well as the Roadmap and Enhanced Trade Partnership, which were being finalized to be signed by both sides this year. The Vice Minister used this opportunity to discuss visa exemption agreements for diplomatic, official, and ordinary passport holders to facilitate travels between officials and increase people-to-people contacts.
