On 1 November 2022, Mr. Monsak Jangariyawong, Minister Counsellor, Miss Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor, along with representatives of the Thai community in Porsgrunn met with Mr. Bjørn Sverre Nyrud, Porsgrunn Kommune, Mr. Runar Berg, owner and manager of Berg Mur og Flis AS, and Mr. Stian Waksvik, sales consultant, Mapei AS, to jointly assess the monument of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn in Brevik in order to find the most sustained way to renovate the monument.
 
They agreed that it is important to take into consideration, the careful selection of materials that are suitable for all Norwegian weather seasons and salinity of the atmosphere as the monument is situated next to the ocean. For the initial step, Mapei AS will provide experts to technically examine the present condition, so that the most suitable way for renovation can be finalized.
 
The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo looks forward to the successful renovation of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn’s monument as this monument is of historical value to the relations between Thailand and Norway and should be well-maintained for the future generation.
