From 19-20 September 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, along with Ambassadors from 53 countries, participated in the study visit for the Heads of Diplomatic Mission in Oslo, organized by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The trip was led by H.E. Mr. Torgeir Larsen, Secretary General, Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Tone Elisabeth Bækkevold Allers, Director General, Department for Protocol, Cultural Relations and Consular Affairs, and Norwegian representatives from the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
 
The study visit for the Heads of Diplomatic Mission in Osio is organized annually by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Ambassadors resident in Oslo to acquire knowledge and understanding of Norway, and to encourage interactions and networking with the representatives of local government and private sector of Norway, as well as to promote friendship among Ambassadors resident in Oslo and colleagues at the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
This year, the study visit took place in Vestfold and Telemark Country where the entourage travelled by bus. The program included the visit to the city of Porsgrunn and the meeting with Mr. Robin Robin Kåss, Mayor of Porsgrunn, as well as the visit to Herøya Industrial Park which included Yara, a leading crop nutrition company, and NEC, an electrolyser production company (machines for Hydrogen production). The program also included the visit to Tønsberg, which is considered the oldest city in Norway, and the meeting with Ms. Anne Rygh Pedersen, Mayor of Tønsberg, and the visit to Verdens Ende, Færder National Park, the cruise on the steamship D/S Kysten and the visit to Geitmyra Culinary Centre for Children.
 
The study visit to Vestfold and Telemark County was a showcase of Norway’s Green Transition policy, which demonstrated Norwegian’s keen efforts on environmental protection and green energy, by utilizing innovation and technology efficiently, for example, the World’s First Full-Scale Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Cement Facility in the city of Brevik.
 
The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of relevant Norwegian government agencies and private sectors, as well as the local authorities of Vestfold and Telemark County, for their warm hospitality and for organizing this study visit which was very useful to learn about both history and current issues of Norway through traveling to important cities in Norway.
