On 7 April 2022, Mr. Monsak Jangariyawong, Minister Counsellor, Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo, attended a lecture on renewable energy in ASEAN by two researchers from the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), namely Professor Indra Øverland, Research Professor and Head of Research Group on Climate and Energy and Mr. Roman Vakulchuk, Senior Research Fellow and Head of Center for Energy Research.
The Embassy of the Philippines in Oslo kindly hosted the above-mentioned lecture and the lecture is among many activities of the ASEAN Committee in Oslo (ACO) planned for this year. The ACO is comprised of the five resident ASEAN Embassies in Oslo, which includes Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. At present, the Philippines serves as the present Chair of the ACO.
NUPI is a leading centre for research on international issues in areas of particular relevance to Norwegian foreign policy. It was established by the Norwegian Parliament in 1959. The Institute is a state body under the Ministry of Education and Research, but operates independently as a non-political institution. Main sources of funding for research at NUPI are the Research Council of Norway, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Ministry of Defence. Support also comes from private companies and international funding sources, such as the EU.
