On 14 March 2022, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, hosted a farewell dinner for H.E. Mr. Wilhelm M. Donko, Ambassador of Austria to Norway and his spouse, Mrs. Yan Donko, on the occasion of Ambassador Donko’s upcoming assumption of position as the Ambassador of Austria to Thailand in April 2022.  H.E. Mrs. Ragne Birte Lund, former Ambassador of Norway to Thailand and her spouse, H.E. Mr. Fazlı Çorman, Ambassador of Turkey to Norway and his spouse, H.E. Mr. Pil-woo Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Norway and his spouse were invited.

Ambassador Wilhelm Donko indicated his wish to be the Ambassador of Austria to Thailand because of his appreciation and admiration for Thailand.  Because of his genuine fondness of Thailand and Thai culture, he is considered to be among Friends of Thailand and also an expert on Asia, as having served in the Philippines and the Republic of Korea and also in charge of East Asia and Oceania at the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is believed that Ambassador Donko’s role will further strengthen and elevate the already close and cordial relations between Thailand and Austria to a higher level.  At dinner, regional issues of mutual interests were exchanged and discussed.
