Dhamma Talk Given by the Venerable Ajahn Jayasāro

On May 16, 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate General hosted a Dhamma Talk graciously given by the Venerable Phra Phrom Phacharayanamuni (Ajahn Jayasāro) at the Consul General’s residence during the Venerable’s visit to the US and Canada. The event was part of the celebrations for the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s Sixth Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024, organized by the Consulate General. The talk was attended by His Excellency Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador to the United States of America, Miss Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General in New York, heads and members of Thai government agencies, and the Thai community in New York City. The event was also livestreamed on the Consulate General’s Facebook page.

On the same day, the Venerable Ajahn Jayasāro kindly provided opportunities for Dhamma discussions with Buddhists present during his early morning walk in Central Park, his visit to the Residence of the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, as well as his visits to the New York Dhammaram Temple and the Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram Temple in the afternoon.

Additionally, on the previous day, Consul General Somjai, together with officials and staff members of the Consulate General, had the great honor of paying respect and addressing a congratulatory message to the Venerable Ajahn Jayasāro on the occasion of his receiving a higher monastic title, “Phra Phrom Phacharayanamuni,” bestowed by His Majesty the King of Thailand on May 12, 2024.
